I understand how important and personal a piece of writing is, having had articles of my own published. I also know how valuable it is to ensure that it is error free. With that in mind, I check for any errors, while ensuring that the writer’s style is preserved.
I trained and achieved a merit with the Publishing Training Centre, which has a good reputation among publishers. I am also a member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading, which ensures that I adhere to their editorial standards.
To date I have experience proofreading magazines; website pages; newsletters; a non-fiction book; and room display cards for an historic house.
Please get in touch if you think we are a good fit to work together.
As a proofreader, I will check your final draft for:
- spelling, grammar and punctuation errors
- ambiguity – does it flow well for the reader?
- inconsistencies, e.g. facts, names, capitalisation
- layout errors or inconsistencies
- bad page breaks
- repeated or missing words
- errors by cross checking references
I am able to work with a blind proof or copy if it has already been copy-edited. I can work on paper or on screen, using Word or PDFs. If required I am also able to use the British Standards Institution’s (BSI) proofreading symbols.

For a quotation, please get in touch with me. I will base the quotation on a sample of the piece that you want proofread, the level of service that you require and the length of the piece.
